Join us for an unforgettable culinary experience by the sea! Many guests rave about the fantastic coffee and tea selection that accompany every meal at Oliver's, making it a delightful stop for beverage lovers. The beer-battered fish and chips often receives accolades for its crispy, golden layer and fresh fish, making it a must-try. The casual, trendy atmosphere alongside attentive staff enhances the experience, inviting compliments from first-time visitors. Additionally, the beautiful views of the estuary create an ideal backdrop for dining, making patrons feel relaxed and connected to nature. Regulars appreciate the daily specials and the consistent quality of dishes, reflecting the establishment's commitment to sourcing the best local ingredients.

Some visitors have noted the wait times during peak hours, especially for table service, which can be a challenge for those looking for a quick meal. Reservations are recommended for brunch to avoid disappointment, as walk-ins might experience delays even when the food is stellar.
Occasionally, patrons mention the limited dessert options, desiring to experience more of the sweet offerings that tempt and delight the taste buds. While the cafe is known for quality, some diners feel that certain dishes could have more variety, such as lighter fare or gluten-free choices. Additionally, noise levels can increase when the cafe fills up, which may detract from the serenity of a meal by the beach. However, most agree that the quality and service more than compensate for these minor inconveniences.
Absolutely fantastic! Stopped by Oliver’s on the Beach and had the beer-battered fish and chips—crispy, golden batter with perfectly flaky fish inside, and chips that were hot, fluffy, and well seasoned. The portion was generous, the tartare was spot on, and everything tasted fresh. What really stood out was the warm service—the Head Chef even came over to our table personally to check that everything was good, which made the experience feel extra special. Friendly, attentive team and a relaxed seaside vibe made it even better. Great value for the quality. Highly recommended.
Lovely lunch today. No bookings, just a walk-in service. They kindly took my number and phoned me when a table became available. The food and service were fantastic. I wish we had room for the desserts, which looked fab but we didn’t get to try.
Amazing first time visiting!! Sorry about the soup picture does not do justice, but the quality of food is exceptional, staff top class professional service, did not expect this quality of fresh food from southend as I have been to others establishments & honestly nothing compares to Olivers this is from now my favourite place to eat & having been a chef in some top restaurants in London what you have achieved is exceptional well done OLIVERS
Really enjoyed our breakfast. We had to wait a little while for our table inside. Once seated we also waited a while before someone took our order, but the great location overlooking the sea meant we didn't really mind. The food was absolutely delicious 😋 and very reasonably priced too. We had Eggs Benedict Royale and Smoked Haddock breakfasts, which as well as very tasty they were beautifully presented too. Will definitely be going back and trying out some more dishes for sure.
Fabulously fresh seafood lunch yesterday. Wish we lived nearer. Very wide menu, very good value. We had whitebait starters and various seafood mains, with syrup sponge pudding to follow! Staff were all super-friendly and helpful. Stunning view over the estuary as the tide came in, setting us up for the Waverley trip to Tower Bridge.
Quite a few of us arrived unexpectedly, so a lot of food and drinks to order . The staff were amazing and took it all in their stride . The fish & chips were the best I've had in a long time , and the homemade tartar sauce was just amazing ! 👏 Food was brought out hot and very quickly considering the amount of us . I can highly recommend Oliver's on the Beach and will definitely be going there again.
